The old way was to tank the walls: sealing the water out of the living space, but leaving it building up pressure against the brickwork. The newer, more manageable approach uses cavity drain membranes, taking control of the water and diverting it to a drainage system, where it is pumped or drained away from the living space. That relieves pressure on the structure and lets the brickwork dry.
The system is formed on both walls and floor. Walls can then be dry-lined or plastered directly; floors screeded or finished with a floating dry floor. We design the cavity drain system that fits your basement and how you want to use it, using Isola Platon membrane systems.
All of our structural waterproofing is covered by GPI insurance-backed guarantees, accepted by lenders across the UK, so the guarantee stands even if anything should happen to our company.
